We Work With a Dedicated Medical Anesthesia Team

The purpose of sedation dentistry is simple: to take care of you while your dental treatment is completed safely and thoroughly.
You’ll typically remember little to nothing about the procedure afterward. Sedation allows you to be deeply relaxed, or even fully asleep, during your dental visit. Sedation is helpful if you:

  • Experience dental fear or anxiety
  • Have had difficult or traumatic dental experiences
  • Have a strong gag reflex or difficulty sitting comfortably
  • Need multiple procedures or more complex treatment

For all sedation cases, Studio Z Dental works with a licensed third-party anesthesiology team:

  • They are medical anesthesia professionals.
  • Their only responsibility is you – your comfort, breathing, heart rate, and safety.
  • They remain with you before, during, and after your procedure.

Depending on your health history and treatment needs, sedation may range from deep sedation to general anesthesia. Your anesthesiologist will determine the safest and most appropriate level of sedation. Depending on the option that is recommended, you can potentially sleep through the entire procedure. We use airway protection when appropriate.

Anesthesia medications are supplied and managed by the anesthesia team. Your options may include anti-nausea medications, anti-inflammatory medications, pain-control medications, and emergency medications if ever needed (rare).

Sedation care includes not only the dental procedure, but also your recovery period. We monitor you until you are alert and medically stable. We discharge only when it is safe to do so. You will need a responsible adult to drive you home.

Sedation services are provided and billed separately by the anesthesia team. Fees are based on the level of sedation and total anesthesia time. Fees are reviewed in advance, so there are no surprises.

Is Sedation Right for You?

Sedation is not necessary for every patient, but for the right situation, it can allow you to move forward with dental care comfortably and confidently. Our team will help you determine if sedation is appropriate based on your needs, health history, and treatment plan.
